Becoming annual event after 2012, the London Festival of Architecture 2014 is coming up yet again this June. This festival is a ‘month-long, city-wide celebration of architectural experimentation, thinking, learning and practice.’ Taking place in the ‘Capital’ from 1st till 30th of June, we are looking forward to program packed with many exciting activities.
In 2014 the festival will take ‘Capital’ as its central theme, and explore it from various angles, as a place of UK’s seat of government and finance, as social and intellectual capital, and the impact of regeneration on the city as a world capital of architecture.
The program promises different themes and activities delivered by partner organisations – leading cultural and academic institutions – alongside associated projects and open studios by architects, engineers, designers, artists, and curators.
Talk: The Garden Bridge Project
The London Festival of Architecture features debates, exhibitions, film screenings, walks, cycle rides, open studios and family events which focus on the importance of architecture and design in London today.
Each week throughout June, leading architects will present a walk around London’s buildings and streetscapes thus enabling visitors to discover new landmarks and buildings with architectural interest.
The concept of architectural installations and interventions provokes questions about the future of the city and promotes positive change.
This year’s festival marks a launch of a new format for the event. International architects are invited to participate in residencies with London-based practices. The International Architecture Showcase will explore the influence of émigré architecture on London that had a significant impact on British architecture that still continues to profit from its international connections.
