Ralph Lauren’s New Café Is a Must-Visit for London design lovers

Just in time for London Fashion Week, well-heeled jet-setters and London design lovers will have a new place to stop for an afternoon coffee, cocktail, or snack: Fashion icon (and decor maven) Ralph Lauren is putting his stamp on the British food scene with Ralph’s Coffee & Bar on Regent Street in the city’s fancy Mayfair district. This is Ralph’s third foray into the restaurant business, following openings in New York and Paris.

Ralph Lauren's New Café Is a Must-Visit for London design loversRalph’s takes its aesthetic cues from the classic, handsome style of the eponymous heritage brand, as well as from the atmosphere of the wildly successful Polo Bar in Manhattan. The 24-seat restaurant features several ties to equestrian culture, with hunter-green walls, banquettes and barstools in studded saddle leather. A mahogany bar lighted with dramatic brass pendants seats 12 more. “I’ve always imagined our stores as a place for customers to experience a world,” says the designer. “Our Ralph’s Coffee & Bar adds to that experience by offering a warm, friendly place to sit cozily with friends and family or to toast a special moment with one of our unique cocktails.”

Among the offerings: a deconstructed BLT salad, a tuna tartare plate, oysters, and butternut squash soup served via an Instagram-worthy pour into one of the branded, hunter-green-rimmed bowls. As far as cocktails go, options vary from the classic (old-fashioneds, Air Mails, and margaritas, to name a few) to those that reference the locale (the Regent Street Sour). Ralph’s coffee comes by way of cult-favorite La Colombe, ensuring that the caffeine is on a par with the food and ambience. All in all, it’s sure to be a stylish blend of the American and British befitting a discerning, globe-trotting clientele.
