Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens Fire Festival
A Halloween spectacular is in store for south London once more as the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens are turned into Asgaard, home of the Norse Gods. Five thousand spectators turned up last year to watch the fire performers, fireworks display and fire magic show.
The Halloween of Crossbones
The Halloween of Crossbones was first performed in 1998 and honours those buried in the Crossbones Graveyard. John Constable and Nigel of Bermondsey perform poems and songs before a procession sets out to the gates of the graveyard where a candlelit ceremony and reading of the Names of the Dead takes place.
Pumpkin Carving
Your pumpkin attempt will (hopefully) turn out a whole lot better than last year’s with the help of these crafty sessions for grown-ups, if only because the free Halloween cocktail will get you feeling creative.
Nightwatchers
The Tower of London becomes a spooky playground for this after-dark immersive experience directed by Anagram, a digital theatre company. Messages and phone calls will lead you through the buildings and courtyards as the stories of code-breakers, law enforcers and religious extremists from the past unfold.
Wahaca presents Day of the Dead Festival
In Mexico the Dia de los Muertos is a chance to honour loved ones who have moved on from this earth with the sort of fiesta you want to stay at forever. Thomasina Miers’s Mexican food brand Wahaca are putting on one hell of a party this Day of the Dead, with a line-up of music including The Horrors, Crystal Fighters, Savages and Mexrrisse.
