The Rum Kitchen

The Rum Kitchen is ‘a Caribbean inspired beach shack restaurant and cocktail bar’ nestled in the heart of Notting Hill. The space showcases the vibrant spirit of the West Indies and holds a hidden cellar housing over 100 varieties of rum; the Caribbean liquor infuses every inch of The Rum Kitchen in London’s Notting Hill. It was a natural progression for rum appreciation to come to the fore at some point, with whisky aficionados carrying a bit of a stuffy image, and vodka still struggling to shake off associations with early morning council estate binge-drinkers.

Drinks aside, The Rum Kitchen experience is warm and cosy rather than dark and dingy, although it’s an unmistakeably subterranean environment. I Love Dust and 44th Hill are the firms behind the fine fittings, and the ambience will be enhanced by the sounds of DJ Fast, playing reggae, calypso and Latin tracks. The Cellar’s menu reflects the overall theme, featuring jerked chicken and curried goat from head chef Nickie McLeod, whose Caribbean parentage guarantees an authentic flavour.
