Gordon’s Wine Bar is an institution in London‘s drinking circles with the speciality being fortified wines. Served from wooden casks behind the bar, this gives it a slightly eccentric feel. They also serve a variety of English dishes. Outside seating is provided on the terrace.

Neighbour to The Photographers Gallery on the cusp of Covent Garden and Soho, Salvador and Amanda is the latest blissed-out bar from the reliably funky Breakfast Group. Calling itself as a Bar Y Tapas Y Fiesta (that’s snacks and Balearic beats until the toddler hours to you and me), it offers a distinctive rustic, ‘Real Spain’ inspired interior by Paul Daly of Elbow Rooms and Lab fame.

The 60 cover cellar bar, launched in Spring 2012, has a glamorous Art Deco feel. Rather than steaks, the menu is a compilation of Hawksmoor classics, features burgers, hotdogs and much more, ideally suited to soaking up the carefully selected cocktails, including five Desert Island Drinks, personal favourites chosen monthly by Hawksmoor bartenders.
