The ‘big four’ fashion weeks are over.
London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 started on Friday 13th September and ended on 17th of September.
The weekend saw all manner of outfits, hairdos, greetings and posing at London Fashion Week. Designers have been showcasing their SS/14 collections.
There is a strong Turkish influence coming off the runways from some great Turkish born designers including Bora Aksu and Zeynep Tosun. There are also some nods towards what we’ll all be buying once the warm weather comes around again. No doubt maxi dresses and skirts, midriffs and varsity styles are here to stay for another season.
Turkish born designer Zeynep Tosun will no doubt soon be on on the collaboration list at Topshop after this SS/14 collection. It featured pale hues and simple silhouettes with silk and mesh being the order of the day when it came to fabrics. Her Turkish roots combined with street wear to create something that any hipster would covet.
Fyodor Golan’s, ‘Electric Children’, one of the first shows of LFW set the tone for the months to come. It looks like we can expect more pastels and a movement towards both a smart and casual look, somehow simultaneously.
Mark Fast, always a favourite looked, like he had been taking tips from Rihanna’s River island collection with his SS/14 showing. More bare midriffs and tight mid thigh length skirts in matching patterns were shown coupled with messy hair and shades.
Finally Bora Aksu reminded us that we are all little girls that love big dresses at heart with some wonderful floor length, lace edges gowns in bright yellows and fuchsia pinks and whites. Aksu celebrates 10 years in fashion this season and brings yet more Turkish vibes to the London catwalks with his block colour offerings mimicking the scorching Turkish summers.
