Christmas time is a magical and wonderful part of the holidays, but being sorrounded by your loved ones can leave you a bit knackered, plus you may be a bit full from all the delicious Christmas food. So, why not use Boxing Day for an active, relaxing and entertaining purpose? Here are our suggestions for what to do in London during Boxing Day, enjoy!
NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM: This South Kensington stalwart has three fantastic exhibitions running at the moment, as well as the usual exhibits and the seasonal ice rink.
THE LITTLE CHRISTMAS TREE: Keep the kids happy with a trip to the Puppet Barge, a theatre on a boat in Little Venice, which is using wooden marionettes and shadow puppets to tell the story of a wonky Christmas tree that no-one wants.
CHRISTMAS AT KEW: This light festival is a staple of the Christmas events calendar in London, and we have to say, this year’s offering is the best so far. A tunnel of lights, a fire garden and plenty of pretty colours, all choreographed perfectly to music, make for a magical treat for kids and adults alike!
ICE SKATING: Burn off those excess calories, by taking to the ice at one of London’s seasonal skating rinks.
GEFFRYE: The Geffrye Museum in Hoxton closes on 7 January for two years so why not take the opportunity to visit while you can, and see the Christmas Past exhibition while you’re there.
SOUTHBANK: Combine a trip to the Winter Market with a visit to a Finnish style rooftop sauna on Southbank, and leave feeling completely relaxed and stocked up with goodies to see you into the New Year.
BOXING DAY SALES: If you’re not into relaxing, you can dare yourself to experience the Boxing Day shopping madness, take advantage of the discounts and step into 2018 with plenty new goods to show off.
WINTER WONDERLAND: London’s festive funfair remains open in Hyde Park through to the New Year. Wander round the markets, have a go on the rides, watch the circus, go ice skating or just indulge in the food and drink.
