Manchester was the first industrialized city in the entire world, with its red brick buildings and impressive railway, it is one of the top cities in the world, leading the United Kingdom in science and manufacturing. The second largest city in Britain is also famous for music, bringing us musical genious such as The Oasis, The Smiths and Joy Division. MALMAISON HOTEL
One of the first boutique hotels to open in the city, the Malmaison has long been known for its quirky interiors inside this 19th century warehouse building on Piccadilly. Super suites include the theatrical Moulin Rouge room complete with giant bathtub and a double poster bed.
MACDONALD MANCHESTER HOTEL
Set within the striking curved former BT building at the gateway into the city centre, the MacDonald Hotel offers fantastic views across the city from its hotel rooms with floor to ceiling glass. It’s also one of the city’s largest four star hotels with 215 bedrooms.
RADISSON BLU EDWARDIAN
Based in the historic former Free Trade Hall on Peter Street, the Radisson Blu Edwardian is currently Manchester’s only five star hotel, and is known for its dark, opulent interiors and suites named after rock stars in a nod to its concert hall past.

THE MIDLAND HOTEL
Manchester’s most historic hotel, providing hospitality in the city for the past 111 years. Famed as the meeting place for Mr Rolls and Mr Royce in creating their luxury car firm back in 1904, The Midland can boast two of the region’s most acclaimed restaurants with Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan at the helm of The French intimate fine dining venue, as well as the larger and more affordable Mr Cooper’s House and Garden.
THE PALACE HOTEL
Set within a magnificent Victorian terracotta building on Oxford Street, the Palace Hotel is based within what was once the Refuge Assurance Building. Over £7mn has recently been lavished on upgrading the interiors and the bedrooms are some of the roomiest in the city – boasting original tile details and grand ornate windows.
VELVET HOTEL
One of the city’s quirkiest venues, with unique interiors and flamboyant decor in each of its boutique bedrooms. Located in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village, it’s a popular destination for weekend breaks as well as romantic getaways.
ABODE HOTEL
Set within a fabulous Edwardian building that was originally built as a garments warehouse, the Abode Hotel retains many of its original features, including grand wooden staircase with intricate panelling, original tiles and the huge windows.
