With various Christmas Markets that provide a chance to get your shopping done, Edinburgh is the perfect place to have fun with your family and friends. The theatres are always full of shows, while other festivities including a Christmas Tree Maze, Ice Skating and Santa’s Grotto ensure the fun continues all the way up to Hogmanay on New Year’s Eve.
The largest authentic German Christmas Market in Europe (outside of Germany or Austria) is definitely Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market that offers a large range of traditional goods and gifts. Enjoy live music on Victoria Square, whilst shopping for anything from unique handcrafted decorations to glass baubles, leatherwork, toys, jewelry and much more!
Well, of course, London had to be on our list! With the famous Hyde Park Winter Wonderland that is free, there are more than 100 rides and attractions on site. You can also go to the Christmas Market of London that offers unusual and handmade gifts and crafts, including ceramics, candles, jewelry, wooden toys, nativity scenes, and Christmas decorations.
Looking for a white Christmas? Then you have to go to the Scottish Highlands for Christmas. The northern reaches also offer a fantastic chance to spot Aurora Borealis. What better than spending Christmastime in a cozy cottage, with snow trickling outside the window and the Northern Lights illuminating the sky?
What about Cardiff? One of the most beautiful attractions is the Christmas Market, the Winter Wonderland and our favorite the Cardiff Castle that features a beautiful fireside Santa’s Grotto.
York is the perfect medieval city where an annual Christmas Festival is held. With lots of picturesque places all over the city, there’s also a Winter Wonderland, home to the north of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, funfair rides and Santa is his log cabin.
Worcester Cathedral is beautiful all the time, but during December it hosts a glorious Christmas Tree Festival, showcasing more than 80 Christmas trees uniquely decorated by different companies and organisations.
The festive market in Bath, England has become one of the best places to visit during Christmas. With an 18th-century architecture, iconic sights, and natural hot springs, this beautiful city features lots of chalets that sell a variety of high-quality artisan products and has a romantic atmosphere that provide the magical setting for its Christmas Market.
