Frank’s Cafe is the flagship architectural commission of Bold Tendencies. The bar was designed by Practice Architecture (Paloma Gormley & Lettice Drake), and opened in 2008 by bartender Frank Boxer and chef Michael Davies on top of the Pecham Multy-story car park.

Bold Tendencies is a summertime non-profit commissioning art project, now in its 8th year. It commissions site-specific works of visual and performing art most noted for large-scale sculpture. Bold Tendencies is now a firm fixture in the international exhibition calendar.
The bar’s striking red tarpaulin cover and those sunset views are plastered across social media as soon as temperatures soar. The crowd remains largely the same although all walks of life make the trip to tick Frank’s off their London bucket list.
Italian cocktails are at the height of trendy too, ideal when cooling off in the heat. Rather than knocking back a sloppily-made negroni, stick with drinks that are easy to mix in a hurry – a dark and stomzy is really refreshing, and the Aperol spritz is deservedly popular.
The latest Bold Tendencies show is also open showcasing new sculptural work over the top four floors of the car park.
