Unless you are living under a rock you must have seen at least one picture of the always perfectly dressed Duchess in one of her favorite British designer pieces. We decided to take a look at these British designer brands and the beautiful fashion creations they give life to.
The relationship between Kate and Alexander McQueen is very enriching for the world of fashion as well as for the eyes of the general audience. Since her beautiful wedding dress, a good deal of Kate’s outfits has been from this label, including the amazing strapless black velvet gown she wore for the Sun Military Awards in 2011.
British designer Jenny Packham is another of the Duchess’s favourite labels. This British label celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013 with Jenny Packham still designing and managing the brand. Ms. Packham is as well known for her bridal gowns as she is for her red carpet-ready formalwear. Personally, we love the pearlescent rose sequin gown with Swarovski crystals that Kate wore to ARK (Absolute Return for Kids) dinner in 2011.
A British fashion house, the company was founded by Alice Temperley, it encompasses bridal, Alice by Temperley and Temperley London. It was rumoured, wrongly, that this label would design Kate’s wedding dress. Never mind that. The Temperley Amoret lace gown worn by Duchess to the War Horse premiere in January 2012 and then at a fundraising night for her former university, St Andrews, was equally stunning.
Fashion designer Erdem Moralioğlu also known only as Erdem has also become one of the Duchess’s favourites. The Montreal-born and London based fashion label was worn by Kate during the tour of Asia. For us, she looks like a breath of fresh air in a white and blue print Erdem dress.
Emilia Wickstead, British-based and New Zealand born, her designs have been favoured by the Duchess time and time again. She was so in love (just as we are) with the pastel pink dress with a pleated skirt, that she recycled the dress for several different occasions. She wore it to the Queen’s Jubilee lunch in 2012 and then again to the Palace Garden Party.
The Catherine Walker & Co design atelier, founded in 1977, maintains its position as a leading British couture house. The label was one of Lady Diana’s favourites and is also highly favoured by the Duchess. The red double-breasted coat with over-sized buttons was clearly a great choice.
Founded in 2009 as an ethical fashion company, this British label is committed to creating elegant fashions while also helping victims of India’s sex trafficking trade. Kate wore their red Sarai gown at a 2011 function. We must comment that red color suits the Duchess very well.
We do hope you enjoyed our list of the British designer labels favoured by the Duchess of Cambridge. Which ones are your favourites? Do you have more suggestions?
