One of the many highlights is the earliest known self portrait of Francis Hayman (1708 – 1776) the important portraitist and illustrator who was one of the founders of the Royal Academy. This artwork was not known to be in existence, so it is a particularly significant discovery. Come and see it yourself!
Adrian Pett, owner of Darnley Fine Art, said, “This exhibition has taken several years to put together. The excitement of discovering long forgotten works by artists who hold great importance in today’s art world is absolutely unsurpassed. I feel honoured to be returning them to their rightful eminence – they were created to be viewed and admired, and their rightful artist acknowledged.”
